| Working with Hello Kitty |
| Experience | Originally hired as a production assistant for the graphic designer in the South San Francisco office of Sanrio, Inc. (creator of Hello Kitty and other world-famous children's merchandising characters), I eventually assumed responsibility for graphic design services for the U.S. division.
I supervised one full-time designer/production assistant as well as several freelance designers in creating designs for products, packaging, merchandising & signage, and other promotional efforts. As most of the product design was then being done in Japan, our primary responsibility was merchandising and sales promotion. However, we had numerous initiatives to develop products locally with specific attention to the sensibilities of the U.S. market. The products I designed for Sanrio included numerous stickers (then at the peak of their popularity) and sticker collection books, luggage and backpacks, notebooks and paper products, and novelty items. Some items may be viewed through the links below. For a complete presentation of toy product art and design, please contact Marc. | ||
